Of the many pictures of Scotland that I have, one of my favorites is a High Dynamic Range (HDR) Panoramic of the City of Inverness. Inverness is one of those places that I will always have a place for in my heart. Because of that, I wanted to show this wonderful city the way I saw it - majestic, beautiful and serene.
Now, just a single shot of this wouldn't suffice - it wouldn't showcase the beautiful tones in the clouds, buildings, water and trees. I needed a pano to capture the width as well. So, I decided to challenge myself with making an HDR Panorama.
An HDR requires at least 3 pictures of different exposures - one under, on , and above the proper exposure. This allows one to view all of the tones within the scene. Now, in order to do that panorama, I had to take 7 separate panels. So, with my limited math skills that comes up to 21 pictures all together. Most people would say this would definitely require a tripod...however, this was a spur of the moment decision, and I didn't have my tripod with me.
Yes, this is all handheld...I thought it was impossible too, but I was blessed to have a steady hand at this moment in time.
